For anyone out there that is currently wondering if they should:

do it

say it

quit it

run it

taste it

try it

write it

sing it

paint it

buy it

book it

……… You have a green light.

POTD is currently cheering for it.  And ‘it’ is the work of photographer Andrew Whiting.  I’ve posted about him before – check out his NEW website here: http://www.worldtrekphotography.com/

Enjoy the joy!

Something I’ve been telling myself lately when I look in the mirror……

Today is the oldest

You’ve ever been

And the youngest

You’ll ever be.

Today marks the start of the 50th Annual Cannes Film Festival.

Wish you were there?

Yeah, me too.

Let yourself fall into these photos for a moment and you’ll feel like you are…..

The Queen of the French Riviera.  The One.  The Only.  Brigitte Bardot.

Eden Roc at the Hotel du Cap.  Quite possibly the 8th wonder of the world during the festival.

A million flashes as bright as the sun.

A cool little music video that simply tastes like Cannes at the end of May.  Watch it and catch the viiiiiiiiibe.

Sometimes I feel like the rain will never stop in London.  Seriously.  After 8 weeks, I was on the verge of going bananas………..until I came across Christophe Jacrot’s  “bad weather” themed photographs and he made me see just how beautiful wet and windy can be.

I guess the handbag is to LA what the stiletto is to New York what the umbrella is to London.   And THAT I can work with.

Here are three pieces I liked a lot……

And there was something about this one that captured my imagination…..as if Humphrey Bogart is smoking and drinking in a jazz bar around the corner.

Sometimes all it takes is one cheap accessory to elevate your party pics (and your party) from so-so to HECK YEAH THAT WAS A FUN NIGHT.

Shakespeare wrote  “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players.”

POTD writes “All the world’s a catwalk and all the men (if that’s what you’re into) and women supermodels….. IF YOU’RE WEARING THESE BAD BOYS.”

I could definitely handle a

mid

town

spin

around

in these babies.

Happy Thursday Everyone!

Now…..get out there and walk down that street like Karl Lagerfeld intended.

Right now I’m reading I Want My MTV – The Uncensored History of the Music Video Revolution and I’ve been revisiting my fantasies about being a rock star.  The truth is, there is no greater rush than to sing in front of several hundred people. (I know. I’ve done it on more than one occasion).  There’s also no greater rush than being anonymous in a room with someone who can change how the air feels on your skin….  just with the sound of their voice.

This first photograph was taken by my friend Nicole (on her mobile phone!) very late one night at a party we were hosting in connection with a massive film release.  We were all exhausted in a way I had never experienced before and had been living on the OWPD (Over Worked Publicist Diet – champagne by night, coffee by morning with very little in between).  Just when we thought the party was winding down, in walked Courtney Love who proceeded to walk straight up to the make-shift stage, grab a mic, tell us all to F&%# Off and then launched into a rendition of Bette Davis Eyes.  Within two seconds the air in the room was electric.  That’s Rock Star Power.

It’s amazing to be on the receiving end of moments like that.  But what’s it like to be on the other side?  No song better illustrates what it’s like to sing a song for a crowd than this one…

IMAGINE THAT

by

Ani Difranco

Imagine that I am on stage

Under a watchtower of punishing light

And in the haze is your face bathed in shadow

And what’s beyond you is hidden from sight

And somebody right now is yawning

And watching me like a TV

And I’ve been frantically piling up sandbags

Against the flood waters of fatigue and insecurity

And that’s when I hear my guitar singing

And so I just start singing along

And somewhere in my chest all the noise just gets crushed by the song

Imagine that I’m at your mercy

And imagine that you are at mine

Just pretend that I’ve been standing here watching you watching me all of this time

Now imagine that you are the weather

In the tiny snow globe of this song

And I am a statue of liberty

One inch long

So here I am at my most hungry

And here I am at my most full

And here I am waving a red cape

Locking eyes with a bull

Imagine that I am on stage

Under a watchtower of punishing light

And in the haze is your face bathed in shadow

And what’s beyond you is hidden from sight

This photograph looks like my yesterday.  Except the steering wheel was on the other side of the car.  Minor detail.

I loved Cornwall!  And I LOVED spending some QT  (quality time) with the two girls I road-tripped with (who coincidentally look like the two blondes in this photo.  Actually, on further inspection, I too was stuck in the backseat.)  There is nothing like sleeping in bunk beds with your pals in a little beach shack and being able to open the door in the morning and lie in bed looking out at your own private beach.  Fancy hotel?  No thanks.  Some things are just better low key.

It’s a three day weekend here in the UK and POTD is grabbing two fab friends, a surfboard and several pairs of warm knee socks (which I fear will be more than necessary in our beach shack) and heading down to Cornwall.

I can’t wait to……………

Have a great weekend everyone!
